Coaching Resource Page

Since you've come to this page, you're looking for information that will make you a better coach, which will ultimately improve your practices and your team  (If you have not volunteered yet to coach, please submit a volunteer form).

First, you should familiarize yourself with the Wharton Soccer Club's Rules & Responsibilities for our coaches.

Second, if you would like to coach soccer, you must take the mandatory RUTGERS S.A.F.E.T.Y. Class.  The Club will pay for this class.

Third, you should know that the Club will pay for your training.  We have many coaches that have received their F and E Licenses and this training is highly recommended.  For more information on this, visit the New Jersey Youth Soccer Coaching Education page.

Fourth, you should familiarize yourself with the differences between Rockaway Valley Soccer League rules (noted in the By-Laws) and FIFA rules.   RVSL requires that teams avoid running up the score. They would like to keep goal differentials at 7 or less. Click here for a RVSL handout which contains suggested ways to keep games close.

The following information is divided into two categories, Overall Coaching information and Skills/Drills specific pages.

If you come across a youth soccer coaching website that you think should be added to this list, please email the URL to kevthayes@yahoo.com.
